Dr. Arlene Hughes Morris

Arlene Hughes Morris is a Registered Nurse who has worked in clinic, hospital, home health, and long-term care settings over her career.

Now retired, her most lengthy endeavor was serving as a faculty member for schools of nursing in Mississippi and Alabama.

She retired from Auburn University Montgomery where she taught in the BSN and MSN programs for 20 years.

During these years, she continued her focus in gerontology by completing advanced degrees and certification programs related to older adults.

Additionally, she remained active through clinical rotations involving care of older adults in various settings.

She most enjoyed helping students and family members to assist the older adult relatives (or friends) to navigate the challenges of health changes across settings of care in clinics, hospital, home health or long-term care.

No matter the setting, she tried to help students to focus on both the individual and the family unit in order to recognize their physical, emotional and social needs, and then to identify the appropriate resources.
